Ok, I’ve posted this question before, and I did receive a couple of really great anwers…but I need a little more help. So…let’s see…On February 21st, a few of my friends and I are celebrating 3 of our birthdays. We have rented a limo, and plan to go to a club or two that night. I’ve bought tiaras for myself (I’m turning 22!!), and the other b-day girls. I’d like to make some birthday sashes for us also, but I’m not sure how to make them look nice (not cheap). I’m also making hangover survival kits as a cute gag gift for all the girls. So far I’ve got handy-wipes, scope mouthwash, coffee packets, pain-killers, ear plugs, chapstick, hair ties, and shout wipes. Along with those trial-size things, each girl will get a regular-size bottle of one of the following: alka-seltzer wake-up call, energy drink, pepto bismol, or gas-x (That one should be especially hilarious…). I also want to do a bottle of water, some bubble bath, and a sleep mask/ eye gel mask, but I’m not sure what else to put in. Any ideas?
Also, we’re going to be doing a photo scavenger hunt. Every girl will receive her own disposable camera, and a list of 10-12 specific pictures to take by the end of the night. I really need some ideas for funny pictures to put on the list. We just have a few so far: taking a shot w/ the bartender, bouncer checking ID, and PDA w/ an inanimate object. Please help! Thanks!

Parental Pearls of Wisdom – Now the World’s Your Oyster
We are all familiar with those little sayings that go back years, like ‘look before you leap’ and ‘pride comes before a fall’, and most of us take no notice of their message or warning. But there is one very true expression â ‘the world’s your oyster’ which is frequently heard when society officially considers you do be all grown up and a real adult. Historically this occurred on your 21st birthday, although this was replaced a few decades ago by the less popular or celebrated 18th birthday; the time when you are suddenly permitted legally to do all sorts of things. Of course, it does not make much difference which of these birthdays you choose as your coming of age and those of us with an opportunistic streak will opt for both dates as occasions for celebration. Let’s say for argument’s sake then that a 21st birthday is the one to focus on, 21st Birthday Gifts will be given with abundance. In actual fact, by the time you have reached this age, and long before, you will be convinced that the world is already your oyster. But what with the key of the door being metaphorically offered as a gesture of your independence, you know that oysters are now for the catching.
Buying 21st birthday gifts can be a complicated matter. You may want to give something special, something memorable that may be kept forever. On the other hand, you may want to give humorous and cheeky 21st birthday gifts, or similarly those that are practical and useful, such as a personalised calendar and matching diary – to record all those important dates that the birthday boy or girl is going to have with their new found responsibilities.
It is always interesting to find out what world history was occurring on the day that you were born, and so a copy of The Times, complete with a beautiful presentation box, will reveal all. You can take this one step further and give a Times Year Book containing not only a copy of The Times on that special date, but also some carefully selected and interesting news from that particular year, and personalised with the recipient’s name embossed on the front cover.
A 21st birthday gift that is guaranteed to make everyone who sets eyes on it smile is a pack of humorous playing cards. These witty cards contain activities and witticisms relating to all the things that you should have done before reaching the age of 21. The mind boggles, but the only way to find out what exactly these things are is to invite your friends round for a game of cards with the added bonus of hilarity; which will help your opponents lose concentration and help you to win . In the background you could put on the fabulous and imaginative 21st birthday gift of a CD of 20 hit songs from the year you were born. If you are planning a themed birthday party, this CD is the perfect mood setter for a 1988 fancy dress. Don’t forget to take photos of the event, as well as the heaps of 21st Birthday Gifts that you receive. A special photo album with a bold 21 emblazoned on its front cover is a lovely 21st birthday gift that will give pleasure for years to come.
For those really sumptuous 21st birthday gifts, Experience Days come in many forms; depending on your interest. Imagine opening an envelope on your birthday to find that you have been given the opportunity to do one of these amazing things. As 21st birthday gifts, there is something for every taste or interest. For those lively and energetic 21 year olds, a paint balling gift will last all day and there are venues all over the UK where this imaginative 21st birthday gift can be experienced. Drive a Ferrari, yes a Ferrari, around Silverstone race track. This is probably going to be the only chance in life you get to do such a glamorous and exciting thing, but it sure is something to tell the grand kids.
If something more relaxing is on the agenda, there are some wonderful ideas for 21st Birthday Gifts including facial massages and other kinds of pampering sessions designed to make you feel extra special, or a visit to a vineyard to learn just how all that delicious wine is made. Taste some of the local wine, enjoy a buffet lunch and get to take a bottle of wine away with you. Oh, and you can take a friend with you too, to make the whole 21st birthday gifts experience all the more enjoyable.
Whatever you do, don’t forget the birthday card. For a combined card and 21st birthday gift, a lovely idea is to give a CD with news, sporting events and personalities from that special year. A 21st birthday gift has to be special. After all, it is a really special day.

What Makes A Good DJ In Herfordshire
People hiring a DJ in Hertfordshire will often raise an eyebrow when given a quote per hour for the event. Yet when you compare the work that goes into making a successful party, you will realize it’s more than just playing a couple of records and announcing the buffet is open.
With customers requiring a high quality DJ service, they are responsible for keeping the atmosphere tailored to the customers requirements while making sure everyone is entertained.
But what does the DJ have to consider:
1)The Event – With stricter regulations and legislation to keep to, the DJ must make sure they comply not only with there own insurance (yes professional DJ’s are insured with regards to there equipment and most have public liability insurance as well), but also the event venue’s regulations too. This is not an easy task, as most venue’s requirements will change accordingly.
2)The Equipment – DJ’s often will have light’s and smoke effects. With a lot of equipment and setting up to do, it can often take a DJ hours before he is ready to even think about playing records. The cost of maintaining and upgrading this equipment can often cost thousands of pounds as well as securing adequate transport for getting to venues.
3)The Music -With the ever changing faces of music the DJ’s collection will often have been accumulated over a number of years.
Most modern DJ’s are also entertainers as well. While they may not be pulling rabbits out of hats, there is a form of magic to keeping the right balance between the customer the DJ is playing too, and the right tempo and volume of music. For example a client celebrating their ruby anniversary is probably going to require a different style and temp of music then somebody celebrating their 21st birthday party.
The DJ will also have to cater for the level of involvement the client wishes them to have. Whether this is just playing music, taking requests or becoming an MC for the night.
DJ’s are often hired via word of mouth so it is vital that they are able to give 100% at every event. Also bear in mind that there some insurers will not allow there equipment to be left alone at anytime during the event, and the DJ suddenly becomes a super human being, able to raise people moods, stand on his feet for hours at a time, and take no bathroom trips. So the next time you feel your DJ’s quote is a little over the top, think of what he has to go through to make sure you have a memorable time.

WWYD? My MIL wants me to celebrate my daughters 1st birthday a month early…?
My husband is a contractor and is going to Iraq on November 3rd for a year (he gets to come back sometime around the middle of the deployment to visit for 2 weeks though).
My daughter was born on the 26th of November. My Mother In Law seams to think we should have my daughters 1st birthday on Halloween weekend.
My husband doesn’t mind if we don’t celebrate it a month early, I’ve asked.. I understand he’d be there if we did but it seams like the sentimental value of it all would be lost. She won’t actually be 1.. In baby time she won’t even be close to being 1. A baby’s 1st birthday is all about sentimental value.. It’s like a right of passage from babyhood to toddler hood.
It’s about first cake (which btw we haven’t fed her anything but breast milk and organic home pureed baby food (no meat either) since she was born. I am NOT looking forward to giving her cake even at the age of one.. I’ll probably make a carrot cake. So to give her cake any earlier than at 12 months isn’t going to happen no matter what.
If it were any other birthday… except for maybe a teens 16th or a young adults 21st.. I’d be okay with having it early though a month still seams to push it.
My husband and I feel that having it a month early would make it feel like just some random party, not like her actual sentimental 1st birthday. I’d strongly feel the need to have a second party on her actual birthday and then my other two children would be jealous that she got 2.
It is unfortunate that my husband will be missing her 1st birthday but whether we have a party for her early or not, he’s still missing it and having a party early doesn’t make that reality any less painful for him. We’ve agreed that I’ll take lots of pictures and even a video or if we can get out times straightened out maybe he’ll get to watch the celebration via webcam.
I’m curious though.. What would you do? Am I crazy not to have it early or is she crazy for expecting us to have it early?

21 Great Ways to Get Ahead as a Real Estate Investor
Strategy 1: Only spend time with qualified sellers who have both motivation and condition. Motivation: a compelling reason to sell with a time crunch to do it in Condition: there is a way to structure a profitable deal – either the seller has the equity to take a deep discount in price or the financing is such that you can structure terms for you to make your profit that way.
Strategy 2: A deal is only a deal once you have signed contracts in hand. And even then, you might not. I just made an offer on an awesome house in a high appreciating area. There was a cash offer in ahead of me for full price. I made my offer higher. The seller rejected my offer because it was not a cash offer, and accepted the cash offer. Within 24 hours the cash offer pulled out. Apparently he made offers on several properties, tying them up, and picking which ones were best, and pulling out of the rest.
Strategy 3: Use “standardized” forms and contracts that you know how to use fast. Have your attorney review contracts you have, and have a standard version of them legally approved. Then make changes to them for each transaction by using an addendum.
Strategy 4: Perform your due diligence before; during and after you have the property under contract. I need comparables and a rough idea of repair expenses before making my offer. The title report is not essential until I have my offer accepted because I have a contingency clause allowing me to cancel if I don’t have marketable title. Then after having it under contract, I will have a more thorough inspection and verify my previous numbers. I have a contingency in my contract to cancel based on my inspection.
Strategy 5: You don’t need to see the house before you put it under contract. I know investors that never walk through houses they buy. Their trusted contractor walks through it for them. Others make an offer subject to inspection. This is on a hot deal that might not wait for you to perform an inspection. Sometimes the property is tenant occupied, and the seller will not let you walk through it prior to an offer.
Strategy 6: Always use open houses when selling or renting a property. If you set up a 1 on 1 appointment to show a property for rent, there is a 40% chance of a no show. Having an open house leverages your time, and is safer.
Strategy 7: Never stop marketing a property until you have NON-refundable cash in hand. I continue to market a property for back up offers. On the deal my offer got rejected, if the seller accepted my offer in a back up position, I would not go away and buy a different property in the interim.
Strategy 8: When doing the paperwork with your buyer or renter, ALWAYS collect the money FIRST then do the paperwork. Again, it is about leveraging your time. You want to make sure the money is available prior to spending a lot of time with the prospect.
Strategy 9: Value your time – hire an assistant. Or better yet, have a partner. Again we are talking about leverage. I never do anything that someone else can do for me. That allows me to concentrate my energy doing things only I can do.
Strategy 10: Have a system in place to take all your front line calls, whether it is an assistant, partner, or voice mail.
Strategy 11: Train your assistant how to qualify buyers, renters, and sellers while NOT giving away information you don’t want them to have.
Strategy 12: Get a voice mail phone number. If you have a high volume business then get a hidden line and build a system to sort out the important calls from the low level urgent calls.
Strategy 13: Only give your hidden line to those people whose calls are most important to you.
Strategy 14: Be willing to request that someone NOT use your hidden line.
Strategy 15: Get and use caller ID.
Strategy 16: Get and use mandatory phone number disclosure on your hidden line (if available).
Strategy 17: Let calls go to voice mail and you call back the people you want to speak with.
Strategy 18: Turn off the ringer when you are a high importance project.
Strategy 19: Choose NOT to return some calls.
Strategy 20: Outsource to high quality vendors in a way that lowers your real cost and provides greater results for you.
Strategy 21: Build relationships with these vendors so that you know you can trust them and they know they can count on you over time. Switching back and forth and picking vendors solely on price is one of the COSTLIEST mistakes you can make.

Me and my mom are planning on going on a vacation for my 21st birthday in July but we’re not exactly sure where to go. We were thinking Las Vegas but that 5 hour plane ride from where I live (Virginia) doesn’t sound like something I want to do. Are there any good beaches or places to go on the East coast? I haven’t lived here very long. Has anyone been to Atlantic City, NJ? What’s that like? Any suggestions welcomed…
